Barnsley Disappointed With Championship Relegation

Danny Wilson and his players of the Barnsley Football Club are preparing themselves for the League One as they were relegated from the Championship League.

The English coach is expected to make a series of huge changes in the squad as he wants the club to regain their position of last year and earn a promotion spot into the higher tier league where they once played in.

Barnsley spent 8 seasons playing in the Championship League but after being relegated, they will have to fight just to earn their place back into the 2nd tier English league. Danny Wilson stated that the squad will suffer an overhaul as it is what needs to be done before the start of the upcoming season.

“If we are going to bounce back we have to be strong, and we have to make sure we are looking forward straight away. Yes it will take some getting over but we have to do it quickly. The directors will want us to bounce back as quick as we can and everybody will work towards that’.

“A clear-out might not be the right word, but there will certainly be some fresh faces and one or two players will leave, that goes without saying. We have to make sure when we come back for the first kick-off in August that we have got a bright and enthusiastic group of players that are determined to bounce back straight away’’.

Barnsley started off their season by undergoing a 4-0 defeat against Wigan Athletic in their home stadium at Oakwell and concluded the campaign in just about the same fashion as they hosted Queen Park Rangers and failed on securing a victory.

WILSON LOOKING AHEAD

As the season approaches its climax, there have been suggestions that Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is already looking forward to the next season. It is expected that the club will make major changes to the playing squad in order to avoid a relegation dogfight once again.

The club are almost certain to be relegated this season, as they are languishing in the 23rd place with only a few matches remaining in the season. Since relegation is almost certain, Wilson has made looking at several players in order to purchase in the summer. Continue reading “WILSON LOOKING AHEAD”

WILSON WILL STAY

Danny Wilson doesn’t think that he will be sacked by the Barnsley board if he fails to save the side from the humiliation of relegation.

Wilson had taken charge at Barnsley towards the end of the last year after the axing of David Flitcroft, but he is yet to repay the faith shown in him by the club owners. He hasn’t been able to take the team’s performances on a high and it looks like that the Tykes will have to play in the League One next season.

However, according to the reports, there is no danger of Wilson getting sacked as the board is backing him and that’s why, he has been given the permission to include two new members of his choice in the coaching staff.

This is not the first time that Wilson has been managing Barnsley. He has been at the Oakwell before as a manager. That was long time back though. He had left the club in 1998 after 4-year tenure.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, Wilson said, “Obviously, it’s a challenge for us to keep ourselves in the Championship, but, it’s not impossible. It’s very much doable and we are determined to do it.”

“As far as I am concerned, I can see myself here next summer as well. I am familiar to this place and I’ve had a great time here since returning.”

“I want to take this club to a really high level. It would not happen overnight. It would be a long process, but, the job that is in our hands at the moment is to get through the ongoing season. I hope the season ends well for us.”

Barnsley’s next match is against the Brighton & Hove Albion on 5th of April.
