BARNSLEY INTERESTED IN FOREST STAR

Barnsley are reportedly interested in Nottingham Forest star Frederik Nielsen.


The player has been caught in the intricacies of Forest’s youth system. The club has freed him to make a move elsewhere as he seeks more opportunities.

The Nottingham Post claims he has joined Barnsley on trial as he is currently training with them with the hopes of getting a contract. The 19-year old earlier held a trial with Premier League side Leicester City but it seems the result was not favourable.

The Danish youngster has featured against Colchester and against Nottingham Forest in the Under 23 set-up as he hopes to impress the club. The game against Colchester ended in a 2-2 draw but the game against his employers ended poorly: he scored an own goal and was pulled off in the second half.

Nielsen joined from Danish club Viborg in 2014 after he impressed during a trial. He was a regular face in the Under 18 side but he wanted more from Forest, even as a centre back. If his trial at Barnsley goes well, he could get a pro deal. Continue reading “BARNSLEY INTERESTED IN FOREST STAR”

Barnsley cannot afford James

Barnsley coach Paul Heckingbottom has stated that his team cannot afford to sign Matty James after the end of the season.


The player who is currently on loan from Leicester City has established himself as an important member of the team.

Paul Heckingbottom said that at the moment Barnsley does not have the financial resources to afford a player of his quality despite the fact that he would love to keep him for next season.

Matty James was signed on a loan deal in January to cover for the departure of Barnsley captain ConorHourihane and has since then become a valuable player in the center of midfield. He has managed to score his first goal in the game against Derby County two weeks ago.

Matty James will be out of contract in one year, but Barnsley’s boss Paul Heckingbottom said that his wages demand are way beyond the club’s ability. He admitted that it is Leicester City that is currently helping pay a significant part of his salary and that Barnsley would not have been able to do it on their own. JAMES BREE THE FUTURE OF BARNSLEY

Barnsley has continued to groom youngsters that are taking the league by storm.


John Stones and Mason Holgate are two players who started their football career in Barnsley and have today gone on to play in the English top flight.

With Wakefield-born James Bree improving in a similar fashion, it would not be long before he lands himself a lucrative contract with a premier league club.

James Bree, who plays in the full-back position for the championship team, has shown he can perform even better when deployed in a midfield position. His awareness and composure when breaking forward shows class and maturity. For a Teenager who is just 6ft to have secured a starting position at a prestigious club like Barnsley, it means every player can perform if giving the opportunity.

Bree is comfortable in the final third with sharp visions to loop in a perfect cross. Pundits have expressed optimism that Bree would become an instant sensation in whatever league he decides to play in the future. Paul Heckingbottom wants to keep his team focused in football

Barnsley FC has recently been involved with allegations of corruption in relation to Tommy Wright who was the former assistant head coach of the club and it was discovered that he had taken payments of £5,000 which were made by undercover reporters and this money is believed to have helped players in being lured to the Sky Bet Championship club.


There has even been video footage has surfaced where Tommy Wright can be seen taking money from a fake Far East firm as he accepted to sign players which were partly owned by the fake firm; however Wright has denied all of these corruption allegations.

Even though Tommy Wright has rejected all of these recent allegations and evidence that has been emerging, Barnsley FC decided to terminate his contract on September 29 of 2016.

With all of these recent corruption scandals and things of this nature that has been emerging, it be a major distraction for players and clubs but the head coach of Barnsley FC, Paul Heckingbottom wants his squad to only focus on their football matches and avoid getting involved in anything else. BARNSLEY THRASH ROTHERHAM 4-0

Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley thrashed their opponents Rotherham 4-0 at Oakwell this week. Barnsley continued their perfect start to the new English Championship season with yet another win.


Barnsley had to problem forcing the visitors to succumb with their constant attack. They had beaten Derby and Queens Park Rangers in the first two games of the season, and they continued their fine form against the Millers.

Goals from Marc Roberts, and Adam Hammill started the riot, but late efforts from Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Kent made Oakwell a place to be. The victory will ensure Barnsley move to third position on the current standings. Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom would be delighted with the efforts of his squad considering that they came from the League One last term. Heckingbottom would be satisfied with efforts so far with the hope that the team can get some rest during the international break.

Rotherham coach Alen stubbs woes were compounded that afternoon as his struggling team lost the game. The chairman Tony Stewart was seen complaining during the second half. Before the encounter, both teams had not met since 2005. The game started with an effort from Danny Ward being blocked, and Barnsley attempted through Sam Winnall minutes later. As the first half wore on, the Reds became more comfortable. Hammill sent a real attempt, testing goal keeper Lee Camp from the edge of the box.

The attacks went either way, with the visitors coming close through Jake Forster-Caskey. The first half ended without a change in score-line. But the second half was different as Barnsley were on another level. They scored two goals in three minutes. Roberts broke the deadlock in the 54th minute as a free kick dropped into the box, leaving the centre half with just shooting it into the net. Hammill scored a quick second, weakening the opposition. Bradshaw scored in the 86th minute, leaving Kent to compound the woes of the visitors.
