Barnsley are reportedly interested in Nottingham Forest star Frederik Nielsen.
The player has been caught in the intricacies of Forest’s youth system. The club has freed him to make a move elsewhere as he seeks more opportunities.
The Nottingham Post claims he has joined Barnsley on trial as he is currently training with them with the hopes of getting a contract. The 19-year old earlier held a trial with Premier League side Leicester City but it seems the result was not favourable.
The Danish youngster has featured against Colchester and against Nottingham Forest in the Under 23 set-up as he hopes to impress the club. The game against Colchester ended in a 2-2 draw but the game against his employers ended poorly: he scored an own goal and was pulled off in the second half.
Nielsen joined from Danish club Viborg in 2014 after he impressed during a trial. He was a regular face in the Under 18 side but he wanted more from Forest, even as a centre back. If his trial at Barnsley goes well, he could get a pro deal. Continue reading “BARNSLEY INTERESTED IN FOREST STAR”
